Meat Loaf Recipe

Cook Time: 1 hour 


  • 750g beef mince (buy when on sale and freeze but don’t forget to take out the night before)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 red onion, chopped but not peeled
  • 1 cup dried bread crumbs (keep some from yesterday's bread, a bit dry is better)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce (we prefer watties)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (nothing fancy budget brands are fine)


  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the beef, egg, onion and bread crumbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste and place in loaf pan or form into a baking tray.
  3. In a separate small bowl, combine the mustard, tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and pour over the meatloaf.
  4. Bake for 1 hour.
