Loan Requirements

To qualify for a Save My Bacon Short-term Loan, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • You need to be at least 18 years of age,
  • You need to live in New Zealand,
  • You need to be meet our minimum income test (about $400 net pay per week),
  • You need to be in permanent employment (as an employee of that company), 
  • You need to have an active bank account (for more than one pay cycle),
  • Your pay needs to be electronically transferred into your bank account regularly,
  • Your need to have access to a computer - the application is 100% online and every customer is provided with an online Account to view their details,
  • You need to have an email account to allow Save My Bacon to communicate with you,
  • You need to own a mobile phone. This way we can also communicate by text which includes sending you a verification code (a security feature of our service) so you can complete your application,
  • You need to complete the online application.

You are required to enter how often you are paid, your net pay per pay period, and when your next pay day falls.

The preferred loan amount ($100-$500) can then be selected by you. The maximum preferred loan amount available to you is dependent upon a number of variables including the total cost of credit (interest and fees), your pay frequency (weekly, fortnightly or monthly), your net pay, and the preferred number of repayments selected.

Step Two

You need to complete and submit our online loan application.

Step Three

If you have completed your application successfully you’ll be redirected to our Secured Signing Digital Webpage to electronically sign your Loan documents. A copy of your Loan Documents will be sent to your email account.

If your application is pre-approved, Save My Bacon will then make its own enquiries to verify your application details and financial situation.

You will also need to inform your Employer/Payroll Officer to expect a call from Save My Bacon.

When we call your Employer/Payroll Officer we tell them that we're approving a credit application. Please note, any delays in confirming your employment details will result in delays in receiving your Save My Bacon Online Loan.

Step Four

The funds are transferred directly into your bank account. This can occur on the same day that your loan is approved provided that your bank is one of the Same Day Payment capable banks. Please check our 60 minute payment guarantee for further information.

Step Five

Repayment is simple with Save My Bacon. Just make sure the required cash is available in your bank account as agreed in time for the repayment date/s.

That’s it! The total due will then be deducted from your bank account automatically, on the repayment date/s. You'll then be welcome to apply again whenever you need an instant cash loan. Please remember to always use our service responsibly.

Please note, if you fail to pay as agreed then your costs will change from our initial calculations. This will occur if you don’t ensure enough funds are available on your agreed repayment date/s or you ask us to change your chosen repayment date/s. The Loan Documents clearly identify default fees.

** We provide same day loans to our customers subject to your bank. Some banks do not have systems in place to enable fast cash transfers on the same day. To take advantage of our 60 minute payment guarantee your bank must be participating in our superfast cash transfer scheme. Same day loans are also subject to you meeting all of our loan requirements and to completing the signed Loan Documents. You will also need to have contacted your Employer/Payroll Officer. Save My Bacon will also need to have verified your information and have contacted your Employer/Payroll Officer.
